Marketplace
November 12th, 2026 in Austin TX

The Inception
(as told by Lucy, the host of The Proximity Marketplace)
“I know what my event is going to be.”
I turn to Jami who’s laying in her jammies after a particularly long speaker day of being told to ‘activate our highest selves’ in 1000 different ways.
But first, some context. I spent 2025 going to over 25 events and speaking at a majority of them in pursuit of becoming a global speaker. I quickly fell in love with speaking, specifically live roasting audience one liners and IG bios on stage. But my ADHD ass struggled to sit in my seat for 8 hours a day, taking notes on what I considered to be pretty general info.
“It might break the event industry”
Now Jami has gone from laying to sitting and I know that once I say this thing out loud there’s really no going back— because I go from idea to action before most people process what I just said.
“An event with zero speakers. We remove the stage and instead have quirky brand activation tables that attendees can visit to have a memorable moment with a service provider and get 1:1 expertise for their business. Like a trade show. But instead of bros and pitches it’s like the carnival. But instead of childlike games it’s a deeper experience with someone you want to hire.”
It was the kind of excitement where you’re scared to breathe and accidentally poof all of the ideas from your brain.
She thought it was brilliant. She asked me what I’d call it.
“I think it should be The Proximity Marketplace.” A cheeky lil’ iykyk nod to our industry’s love of paying for proximity.
So it was born.
And the high-energy founder closed the swag bag notebook for good.
Most events have one person speaking and everyone listening for a majority of the program.
People promise to ‘meet you at lunch’ but that 30 minutes of meeting people oozes with scarcity and pinball women trying to figure out who they should actually meet.
Next thing you know, you have indigestion from inhaling a piece of grilled chicken to maximize convo time, esoteric notes on your phone like ‘connect with Tina,’ and weird resentment from needing to ‘get back to the room’ when things were just getting juicy.
You leave with a notebook full of ‘things to implement,’ a few business cards, 50 new followers on IG, and a laundry list of ways to ‘make the most out of the follow up.’
And it’s kinda fun. But you’re ready to try things a different way.

We casually broke the idea that events involve 8 hours of sitting and meek elevator pitches over salad
The Proximity Marketplace is:
The world’s first trade show for OSPs and coaches
But don’t let the word trade show fool ya. There aren’t any free pens, bland pitches, and bros in polo shirts over here. Every table has a brand activation, giving you a chance to experience someone’s expertise in under 10 minutes through a quirky, game-like activity. And every attendee is given a list of tables they need to go to based on their goals.
Zero speakers. Zero sitting.
So many events say they’re going to be interactive, but that’s almost impossible when the focus is centralized on a stage and audience members give their attention to one person at a time. By cutting out speakers completely, and creating a carnival feel with brand activations— table holders create magical moments with attendees and the interactions are far more personal than a 1:many format.
Permission to make it weird
Tables aren’t for pitching, so you don’t have to avoid any eye contact here. Activators (i.e. table holders) work directly with Lucy to create an activation that shows off their expertise, give an attendee a quick win, and push the envelope. Expect confessionals, cute bevvies, and games that solve a high level problem in your business and make you feel like a kid again.

Something to daydream about
You ask Lucy for the best spa in Austin, because you need a massage from running around all day. She tells you and that’s the first note you’ve taken all day.
You have 3 discovery calls booked with potential clients, and the reason it’s so low is because you had a lot of disco calls in the moment and now people just want more information or a link to buy instead of more of your time.
You met the designer you’re going to hire to do your rebrand. That kicks off in less than 2 weeks.
You’re booked on 3 people’s podcasts. You already know you can yap with them, because when they came to your table– that line got longggg (oops)
You can’t stop thinking about that 10-minute conversation you had with a sales strategist and now you’re going to implement what she told you in the hotel room before you sleep tonight.
You met a woman who now needs to meet your man because she is definitely getting a spot on next year’s group trip to the Amalfi Coast.
You’re chatting with the perfect referral partner next week to discuss a combined offer that you started creating right on The Proximity Marketplace floor.
You’re giving out the biggest hugs because you’re on cloud 9 and also ruined for all events in the future.
*bc of some regulation, I can’t guarantee these results. But I’m gonna do my damn best to try and make as many of these outcomes happen for you.

FAQs
-
Go wild with it. This is not Chad pitching you with a spinning wheel, free candy, and a pamphlet. Think:
A sales strategist with a water gun who sprays you as soon as you lose your power as you’re practicing your pitch on her
A VA with a plate and fake food labeled with different business tasks– showing you what to outsource first
An editorial-style brand photographer who makes that light and airy headshot a thing of the past
-
The idea is to have ~30-50 tables and 100-200 attendees. Enough people to leave with some almost-clients, but not so many that you felt the need to say the same thing 300 times and now you need a week of silence and potato chips.
-
It’s not that strict, but I’m doing some light vetting to make sure we have a diverse room of businesses instead of 35 accountants.
-
The event is 1 day in Austin, TX on November 12th, but you might be able to come the day before and set up your table if you’d like to.
-
Ew. No. That’s why every table is doing some sort of activation, so you get targeted help and if there’s a vibe then you can take the next step and potentially hire the person running the table. But hard pitches are a hard no.
-
People who can’t sit still. Established business owners who feel like they’re beyond a lot of the info they learn at traditional business events. Direct people with direct intentions. Probably extroverts or introverts reallyyyy pushing themselves. People with a sense of whimsy. But mostly women entrepreneurs who’ve been in the game a while, are scaling, and are looking for the people who will make that next level much faster as efficiently as possible.
-
No, that would be weird. Buttt if you grab a table, you’ll be entered into reverse networking which essentially means we’ll know what each attendee is looking for and then match them with your table so they know where to go. This gives you the highest chance of meeting the people who are already looking for you
-
If you buy a table ticket, you’ll get:
A table (duh), but also that would be diabolical if I made you travel with that
Async help over VNs to create your brand activation
Access to a room full of potential clients and an efficient way to build trust with a lot of people in 1 day
Reverse networking, so you’re matched with people who are already looking for you
The ability to bring one person to help you with your table (and give you some time to walk around w/o abandoning your table)
-
If you get an attendee ticket, you’ll get:
A full day of brand activations to get 1:1 expert support for your business
A room full of established coaches and online service providers
Matched with tables that’ll best support your next period of expansion based on what you’re looking for
-
Yes, you’ll need to bring everything you need for your brand activation (except the table). If you’re an attendee, then just your sweet soul (and maybe a tote bag).
-
We’re going to know the intentions and needs of every attendee and table holder. We’re then going to match attendees with tables that’ll best fit who they’re looking to hire and where they need the most support.
-
Totally. The question is, do you wanna be in the room or work the room. Attendees will be able to casually meet each other and get support from the tables, but table holders will have access to getting matched with people who are looking for them, creating a memorable brand experience, and setting up a spot where people are approaching them.
That means a higher probability of signing clients and finding that hinge person who changes everything.
-
Yep, no speakers! We may have some sponsor demos– but the main experience is in the marketplace.
-
There are no refunds.
-
Do you wanna sit or do you wanna be the main event who’s positioned to get clients much faster?
